11/20/2023 0 Comments Rss reader android source codeIt was otherwise not a good RSS reader but that feature was nice. One feature that was very nice that I've only ever seen in one reader (but can't remember which) was that it registered its reader mode as a browser, so you could share a link and open it directly in its reader mode, to read without distractions. It is used to read the latest update made on the content of a blog or website. I want dark theme, ability to add/edit feeds manually, OPML import/export, reader mode (preferably used by default, or ability to set it as default), fetching full stories (preferably also default), manual refresh (or on app open), quick search, and groups or categories. I should note that my requirements from an RSS reader are quite basic, I don't need automatic refresh, filters or anything fancy. The fact it has groups and search is a big plus, I may switch to it for a while and see how it goes. People say the RSS parser has some issues but I haven't seen any. In spite of this, ReadYou seems pretty usable to me right now (I'm also currently using Feeder). Material design also pisses me off with how much screen space it's wasting. You can't edit feeds (you can change name but not the URL) so the only way to fix an URL is to delete and re-add. One big minus is that ReadYou seems incomplete, there's a lot of stuff greyed out all over the place. Then, we call startActivity to switch to the new Activity. One big plus over Feeder is that ReadYou has quick search and can group feeds. Then, we instantiate a new Activity Intent and pass the data to this Activity by Bundle. Inside the listener, we get the corresponding Rss entity basing on which item user clicked. In above Android example source code, we set a item clicking event listener on ListView. Intent postviewIntent = new Intent(MainActivity.this, PostViewActivity.class) PostInfo.putString("content", data.postContent) Private OnItemClickListener onItemClickListener = new OnItemClickListener() void onItemClick(AdapterView arg0, View arg1, int arg2, Next, we will create an onItemClickListener object which implements the OnItemClickListener interface, to handle the user click event on list items. tOnItemClickListener(onItemClickListener) Different from setting click listener on button, we need to call setOnItemClickListener on ListView in this case. So we will set a click listener on ListView. The next task is showing the content of a RSS entity when users click any of titles in the list. In previous Android guide, we already get the Rss feed successfully, and show all the titles in a list. Once you see the source code, search through it (with Ctrl+F or Command+F) for RSS. Most web browsers let you quickly open the page source with the Ctrl+U or Command+U keyboard shortcut. One of its most standout features is that when you want to read articles from your favorite websites, NewsBlur maintains the style of the original site. Android Rss Reader Example 1: How to Use ListView and ArrayAdapter NewsBlur is another free RSS feed reader that works on the web, iPad, iPhone, and even Android. Before staring to read this Android tutorial, you’d better to read the following android tutorial first. This is the No.5 Android tutorial about how to create a Rss Reader Android App. In the following Android WebView example, I will show you how to switch activities programmatically, pass data from one activity to another activity, and show HTML content on WebView. So I prefer to use WebView to show RSS content instead of TextView. Normal Rss feed content is HTML formatted. Feel free to inspect, share, and contribute. In this android code example, I will create a new Activity class to handle the presentation. The source code is completely open source under the GPLv3 license and openly available on GitHub. Show rss content is the last task for Rss Reader Android App.
